My Class Has Gone Crazy!

I think that my class has gone crazy. Yesterday, they seemed to think that a triangle was a pentagon. Then today, I told my teacher that my parents agreed with me (they did) and our teacher claimed that she and everyone else in our class did, too the whole time. Later, we were naming the 13 colonies and some students were naming other countries like Brazil and France. They were unbelivable.

If Saturn was Shaped Like a Stick

Last night, while we were watching the fireworks, we saw one that looked like a stick with a ring arround it.

Dad: "Hey! that one looks like Saturn."
Me: "Yes, if Saturn looked like a stick."

later:

Dad: (to Mom) "If you tried to do a fireworks show, you'd blow your hand off.
Me: (to Mom) " I'd prefer it if you do a hands-on activity

You Scored an A
You got 10/10 questions correct.

It's pretty obvious that you don't make basic grammatical errors.
If anything, you're annoyed when people make simple mistakes on their blogs.
As far as people with bad grammar go, you know they're only human.
And it's humanity and its current condition that truly disturb you sometimes.

Yesterday was the end of a program that I went to. We showed our parents what we learned. We also got certificates.

A New Violin

Last night, I got a new violin. This one is a 3/4 size. I've already gotten used to it. This means that Waterball gets my old 1/2 size. He loves it. when he's old enough, he can learn, too. He doesn't like it when I tell him I'm going to blog about his screaching. This is even after I tell him that my first song on a violin was nonsense, too.

Aren't You Forgetting Someone? -30th post

My mom, Waterball (my brother), and I went to the pool yesterday. I kept trying to convince Waterball to try the water slide. Close to the end, Waterball followed me to the slide and said, "Aren't you forgetting someone?" He also claimed that he liked it all along. I found that hard to belive. We had a good time, though.

D for Difficult-the impossible "Pictionary"

We played "pictionary" last night. On one round,I landed on "d", so I looked under "d". I got "convex". The first thing I thought was "what's a convex?" So, I picked annother card. This time I got "slack". I don't know whitch one is harder. Probably "convex".

Family Blog Topic

Should people go to other religions' day camps?

Hey there, this is A Plus's Mom. We decided to try something new today. We're going to have a whole conversation about a topic. I'm going to be the guest blogger on A Plus's site, and sometimes she'll guest -blog on my site. When I blog it will be brown like coffee, because I love coffee.

When I blog it will be pink, because I love pink.

OK, so should people go to other religions' day camps?

I think that it depends on what people do there. If you end up doing something completely against your religion, maybe it's not worth going. If you decorate cookies for a holiday you don't celebrate, maybe watch a kid-level movie, and make crafts, go there all you want.

Well, so let's take a real-life example. We are UU's and the camp we're talking about is non-denominational Christian. One of the things I really like about UU's is that we get our inspiration from lots of different sources. Lots of those sources are Christian. So it would be really great for you to learn all that good Christian stuff.

Well, I just like the crafts sometimes.

No shame in that. But, in some way large or small, these people are running this camp because they think it is important that you grow up Christian. See, I don't think that's important. So, there's bound to be some conflict there.

Well, of course. A lot of churches want you to join them.

Well, sure. That's only right. But, ok, what if the craft is a craft about exorcism or the movie is a movie about going to hell?

[looks confused] Uh, what's exorcism?

Exorcism is where you cast the devil out of a person. Some Christians believe in it. My point is just, there's lots of creepy stuff that lots of religions believe and I wouldn't just want you swallowing it up without thinking.

O.k., so back to the point-It also depends on how religious you are. Are you fine with going to a thing that is a tiny bit against your religion? What about a medium sized amount?

Is it on a day that you think is important religiously?

What, like a sabbath or something?

Yes, like that.

Good point.

I don't necessarily think it's a question of how much you and your church disagree with them and their church (especially when you're talking about UU's, since we probably don't agree with each other anyway.) I mean, disagreeing is ok. I think it's about respect.

Like what?

Like, here's an example. Lots of Christian churches recite The Apostle's Creed. And I'm sure that Christian parents think that is a wholesome and lovely thing for their kids to be doing in Sunday school. And it's a beautiful and inspiring statement. But the Apostle's Creed is -- well, it's a creed. You get what a creed is?

Sure. It's a brief authoritative formula of religious belief (according to the dictionary.)

Right. So, you don't have one of those. So, if you were in a group and they all were reciting that creed or any creed, I would want you to feel comfortable bowing out. I would want the people to respect that.

Well, I would feel comfortable doing that.

Yes, well, you are exceptionally principled and outspoken.

Thank you.

Well, what do you think about the other side of it -- respect for the church? I mean, I wouldn't want any kid of mine sitting in the back feeling superior to the people in the church either.

Of course I wouldn't do that.

Well, then, so if you respect them and they respect you, do you suppose it's a good idea for you to go to the camp?

Yes, you?

Me too.

There's Not a Violent Bone in Your Body

You're cool and collected, even when someone really gets under your skin.

And while you don't blow up when you're angry, you know how to express your anger calmly.

You don't bottle emotions up or let them get out of control. For you, violence would never be an option.

Don't worry, I don't want to be violent.

You Are Quite Worldly

You've done a good bit of worldly exploring, and you have an international perspective.

And you're definitely looking forward to your future adventures abroad.

You've got the passport, the desire to travel, and maybe even the language skills.

Sing!

The “Phoenix Childrens’ Chorus” (PCC) did a winter concert. We will be doing others soon. Everyone had a great time. Including me! We sang “Hodie,” “In Dulci Jubilo,” “Hine Ma Tov”, and “Cold, and Fugue Season.” We also sang “Angels’ Gloria,” “In Excelsis Deo,” and their traditional finale, “German Lullaby”

Happy 85 th

My great-grandma’s 85th birthday party was great! It was full of opportunity for everyone. I was able to show my poem writing skills to the entire audience. I received many thank-you’s, and my brother was able to say his name to the “whole class” We all had a great time.

“…And a happy new year!”

“Toot! Toot!” “Bang! Bang!” “Crash!” Give a cheer! Happy New Year! Get used to that. New Year is coming soon. Start writing New Year’s resolutions, and planning parties. It’s going to be great!

One Step forward; Two Steps Back

I'm really worried!

I don't know how it happened. I didn't even press any buttons. Somehow, though, I accidentally reset my pedometer for our fitness project! How am I going to get my points back?

I'll bet that my brother will laugh at me. He's been teasing me about how many steps he'd get if it was his project. However, I think that he'd get even less than me.

That isn't entirely fair, because he's been sick a lot.

The Terrible Bus

Monday again! My school starts so early. Classes themselves start at 7:30, let alone catching the 6:45 bus. The bus! That's another problem. and it's not the morning bus that I'm worried about. every afternoon, when I go home on the bus, some people on the bus make this deafening noise. It's really terrible, but once I'm home, I don't need to worry about it any more.

Dear Blog

If you looked at my grades, you'd think that I'm smart. but if you looked at my behavior, you'd think that I'd forget my own name. That's what's confusing about me. I get good grades, and I also forget everything.

My name is A Plus, sometimes known as "Girl." I am ten years old. I live with my mom, dad, grandma, and 6-year-old brother. I like to sing, and I like science. I play violin and I like to travel. Last summer, I went to China.
